In 2016, Community Power started working alongside Hesquiaht First Nation on Vancouver Island’s west coast on a range of energy efficiency initiatives. Most recently the community completed a series of building assessments to improve health and safety, and identify energy saving opportunities for the community.
This project included: community engagement to discuss concerns such as wood stove safety, wiring safety and power surges; assessment of 33 homes and 3 civic building on energy efficiency opportunities, safety and construction deficiencies; and, prioritized and costed recommendations for upgrades.
